Despite reports that claimed Zlatan Ibrahimovic was walking around the locker room soon after limping off the pitch against Anderlecht yesterday, sources consulted by the Daily Mail admit that the Swedish ace might have played his last game for Manchester United this season, as he's come down with a knee injury.
The newspaper's website claims that the player's injury will be confirmed in the following hours, raising doubts about the striker's future at Old Trafford, as he's failed to reach an agreement to extend his contract with the Red Devils.
Zlatan's awkward landing caused fans to fear the worse. Apparently, their fears turned out to be well-founded, as the player seems to be doubtful for the rest of the season.
Speaking after the 2-1 win over the Belgian side, Mourinho tried to be cautious about Zlatan's diagnosis.
"We are in trouble and now we lose Zlatan too, but in attack, we have options and Rooney is coming, and let's see if (Juan) Mata can also return before the end of the season. Let's see what happens,"Mourinho stated.
The Red Devils have a busy schedule in the upcoming weeks, with a trip to Burnley on Sunday and the Manchester Derby next week. Ibrahimovic became the team's top scorer in his maiden season with th club, and if this information is confirmed, the team's chances of a top-four finish and a UEFA Europa League title have been handed a huge blow.
