Bruce Arena believes USMNT have what it take to win their first-ever World Cup in 2026.

The USMNT has the potential to win the 2026 World Cup, according to their manager Bruce Arena. The 65-year-old was speaking after the joint hosting bid submitted by three CONCACAF nations; USA, Mexico and Canada.

If FIFA accepts their bid, this would be the first time the World Cup will be hosted by three countries at the same time. The year 2026 will also go down in footballing history when the World Cup will feature 48 teams, up from the usual 32. And the three CONCACAF nations will most-likely be approved to host the global event due to their advanced infrastructure needed to host an event of such a huge magnitude.

And speaking after the submitted bid, Arena said:

“I think in 2026, we’re going to be firmly immersed in the game and be a big player. I think 2026 will be the time where we’re going to start talking about winning a World Cup.”

The fan-favorite tactician is widely seen as the man to steer the Yanks to glory, having taken them to the quarter-finals fo the competition in 2002 when they lost to Germany. This was the furthest the USMNT had gone in this competition as Arena cemented his position as the coach of the best MNT of all time. And there is a general perception that the man still has what it takes to steer the Yanks to their first ever World Cup glory nine years from now.
