There were plenty of surprises and records set this weekend, including a shock win for Crotone. LiveSoccerTV.com takes a look at all the talking points from matchday 31.

Another weekend, another round of action. And this batch certainly did not disappoint. There were quite a few surprise results, giving some fans some hope whilst dashing the dreams of others. In addition, history was made in several of these matches, and the race for the Capocannoniere continues to heat up.

Without further ado, let's have a look at some of the talking points from matchday 31 in Serie A.

1. Belotti is truly flying this season

Here's a nifty stat: Guess who the player who has scored the most headers in Europe's "Big 5" leagues is?

That's right - it's Torino's Andrea Belotti:

Torino may (or may not) be able to hold on to Andrea Belotti for that much longer. The 23-year-old has scored an impressive 26 goals, including 24 in Serie A and is locked in a tight race with Edin Dzeko for the Capocannoniere. With rumors repeatedly linking him with a move to the Premier League, it remains to be seen as to whether he will be at the Stadio Olimpico next season.

2. A huge milestone for a struggling nation

Cagliari may have been unable to get the better of Torino, as the Rossoblu succumbed to a 3-2 draw, but there was a silver lining, perhaps. Han Kwang-Song became the first North Korean to ever score in Serie A when he netted a consolation effort for his side to make it 3-2.

The youngster, who will celebrate his 19th birthday in July, is also the first North Korean to sign for a Serie A team. And now he has a debut goal that he surely will remember for a long time to tell his grandchildren years in the future.

Han Kwang-Song has written his name in the history books as the first North Korean player to net in Italian football's top flight

3. Inter - the latest side to be bitten by the sharks

Can Crotone "pull a Leicester" and avoid the drop? Perhaps. The Squali are in their first ever season in Serie A, and it has been nothing short of a baptism by fire. They predictably have struggled with the significant step up in opposition, and many had written them off as one of the definites to drop back down to Serie B.

However, as of late, the Squali have been biting back. They managed to pull off arguably the biggest shock of this round - by beating Inter 2-1. That also marks the first time they have won two games in a row after beating Chievo last weekend.

Perhaps a better analogy besides the Foxes could be the case of Sassuolo. The Neroverdi made their Serie A debut in 2013 and managed to avoid relegation by finishing in 17th. Whatever Crotone are using as inspiration, it appears to be working and upcoming opponents Torino certainly will not be taking the Squali lightly.

4. Raining goals for Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain is no stranger to matching (or setting) records in Serie A. Last season, he plundered a whopping 36 goals for Napoli to win the Capocannoniere. That equaled an 87-year-old record set by Gino Rossetti, who netted the same amount for Torino during the 1928/1929 campaign. And this past summer, Higuain earned himself a record-setting 90 million euro move up north to Juventus, which made him the most expensive South American player and the highest ever transfer fee paid by a Serie A side.

Anyway, on Saturday, the Bianconeri took on Chievo. Higuain's brace was enough to see off the stubborn Flying Donkeys as well as:

5. Raring up for the derby

This upcoming weekend will be the latest installment of the Derby della Madonnina, and whilst Inter's confidence has taken a major hit after losing to Crotone, their cross-town rivals AC Milan will have seen their spirits lifted a bit after this round.

After a shocking 1-1 draw with Pescara, the Rossoneri were given another chance to get things right against yet another relegation-threatened side: Palermo. And this time, Vincenzo Montella's men got the result they wanted, and in resounding fashion indeed:

Inter, beware!

How the race for the Capocannoniere is shaping up...

As we can see here, it is still a deadlocked race, with Andrea Belotti and Edin Dzeko leading the way. But reigning champion Gonzalo Higuain is not too far behind, whilst Dries Mertens' 20 goals still have him in contention for the Capocannoniere.

Assist Kings

As we have said time and time again - no goals without assists! Here's how the top providers compare:
