Seattle Sounder's attacking midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro, popularly known as Nico, scored a brilliant goal for the MLS Cup defending champions against San Jose Earthquakes at the Avaya stadium. The 28-year-old connected a blocked free-kick into the bottom right corner of the net to give the Seattle-based club a 1-0 lead.

But the lead was short lived when the hosts found the equalizer in the 90th minute thanks to captain Chris Wondolowski as the two sides shared the spoils. Speaking after the match, Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer admitted that the draw seemed like the loss given that the visitors were on the course of victory. He said:

"Sometimes when you come back for a draw like we did in Montreal, it feels like a victory. This feels like a loss."
