Serie A - Matchday 31 overview
Juventus ended up losing the battle, but winning the war in their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie. Specifically, the Bianconeri lost 3-2 to Napoli in the second leg of the Coppa Italia, but thanks to a 3-1 win in the first leg, they managed to edge out the Partenopei 5-4 on aggregate to set up a final meeting with Lazio. Meanwhile, the Aquile failed to win their Coppa Italia semi-finals second leg, losing 3-2 on the night to Roma, but squeaked by due to winning the first leg 2-0.
A crunch clash awaits on Sunday as Lazio lock horns with Napoli. Both the Aquile and the Partenopei have had pretty solid seasons so far and this game could prove decisive in who clinches third and a shot at featuring in the Champions League. Sunday's fixtures also include Inter taking on Crotone in a game the Nerazzurri will be desperate to win after losing to Sampdoria on Monday.
As for the Squali, they will be feeling a bit of confidence after beating Chievo; the Flying Donkeys have the dubious honor of being the only team to lose both home and away agianst Crotone this season. They will travel to face Juventus, a game that could not come at a worse time for Rolando Maran's side after their embarrassing loss. As for Crotone, that victory marked the first road win for the struggling new-boys, who are just five points from safety with 8 rounds to go.
