This is a must-win game for both sides, as the hosts and the travelers remain in the midst of qualifying. Only one point separates the two South American sides, with Los Cafeteros, as the way thing stands, in line for an automatic qualification.
However, James Rodriguez and Co. have been below par as of late. They have struggled to win games, and a loss on Tuesday could see Colombia drop to sixth – if Chile win their fixture.
The media back home have been scrutinizing Jose Pekerman’s side, a tense relationship with journalist that will only intensify after James Rodriguez was pictured giving the middle fingers to a couple of journalists. The Colombia captain must inspire his team to a win when they travel to Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa.

Chile welcome Venezuela to the Estadio Monumental David Arellano at Santiago with victory for the hosts being the only acceptable result. The travelers are dead bottom in the standings, and thus stand no chance of booking a ticket to Russia.
La Roja dropped to sixth, outside the qualification zone, after their 1-0 loss to Argentina. However, Alexis Sanchez and Co. can jump into fourth if Ecuador vs. Colombia ends in a draw.
The Arsenal attacker, who has been sensational but often frustrated at the Emirates this season, was his usual upset self after losing to La Albiceleste. The Premier League ace walked straight off the pitch after the final whistle, a move which reportedly left a bad taste in his Chile team-mates’ mouths. A fine display on Thursday will leave everyone happy again, though.
