Italy hoping to take advantage of a Netherlands side in chaos

Netherlands

The Oranje come into this game in total turmoil. They ended up losing rather shockingly to Bulgaria, which cost Danny Blind his job due to the embarrassing 2-0 defeat. Right now, the Netherlands, who failed to qualify for the EURO 2016 tournament, are in danger of missing out on the World Cup next year. It's a dismal turn of events for a team who finished as runners-up at the 2010 edition and in third place four years later in Brazil.

The hosts will be hoping to take advantage of Italy's less than impressive form in friendlies, especially on the road. That being said, the struggling Oranje are facing a side who have been in solid form, and they will be heavily relying on the experience of stars like Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder - neither of whom had a good game against Bulgaria - to try to restore some of their confidence in front of their home fans. Bas Dost is another player who failed to impress, despite his excellent form for Portuguese outfit Sporting CP this season, and he will be expected to put in a much better shift this time around.

Italy

Meanwhile, Italy continue to earn positive results in their World Cup qualifying campaign. The Azzurri are not the highest scoring side, but they get the job done. Gian Piero Ventura's men picked up a 2-0 win over Albania in a game that was interrupted after flares were thrown onto the pitch, but Italy did not allow that annoyance to get in the way from maintaing their unbeaten run in qualifiers. Given that they are locked in a race for top spot with Spain, Ventura knows that his side have to be absolutely perfect to earn maximum points from their other games against the likes of Israel and Albania, and they have done just that so far.

However, the visitors will be making do without a slew of key players. Gianluigi Buffon, who earned his 1000th senior appearance last week, will play no part. Neither will Andrea Barzagli; both players have been allowed to return early back to Juventus as the Bianconeri face a tough run of fixtures in the next few weeks. Leonardo Bonucci, however, will remain with the squad. This means that 18-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma could be handed a rare start.
