Some players try to relax, others choose to spend time with their loved ones. But Alexis Sanchez's way of gettiing his head away from his current problems with La Roja and Arsenal was...curious, to say the least.
The player's hometown of Tocopilia decided to erect a monument to pay their respects to their local hero. The player's statue, wearing La Roja's jersey, is a replica of Sánchez's height and pose, including his rolled-up short. Behind Sánchez, fans can see the logos of all teams he's played for during his career, which range from local clubs like Cobreloa and Colo Colo, to top-caliber teams such as River Plate, Barcelona and Arsenal.
Sánchez cuts the ribbon during the ceremony.
Sánchez's 2016-2017 season hasn't been what fans expected, as he's struggled to keep Chile in contention to win a ticket for the 2018 World Cup, while being involved in transfer rumors away from Arsenal all year long.
