Lukas Podolski scored the only goal of the match as Germany beat England in an international friendly in Dortmund.

The German national football team edged England 1-0 in an international friendly played at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday. The game marked Lukas Podolski's last appearance for Die Mannshaft, and the man of the night got himself on the scoresheet with a left-footed stunner.

And as the world bid foward to one of Germany's greatest forwards in the 21st century, there was a new record set. Sports data mining company tweeted Joachim Low's men had gone 648 minutes without conceding a goal. This was a new record for the German national football team.

The last time they conceded a goal was against France at the Euro 2016 when the Germans were bundled out in the quarter-finals. The hosts then set a meeting with Portugal in the final, but lost the match by a solitary goal.
