Match facts

  • Arsenal have won 18 of their last 19 FA Cup ties.
  • Lincoln have only lost twice in their last 34 games.

Can Arsenal bounce back after their midweek horrors?

Last week saw Arsenal hit a new low. After losing 5-1 away to Bayern Munich, the Gunners hosted the German giants only to lose by that exact same score. The whopping 10-2 aggregate is the biggest defeat by an English club in a European competition.

Protest for Arsene to leave the club has only increased. Fans held an anti-Wenger march outside the Emirates prior to the Champions League demolition, but the board has since confirmed that the Frenchman will complete his contract until the summer before a decision on his future is made.

Le Prof needs a victory, and a win against Lincoln to make the FA Cup semis would be a good start. However, the Gunners must pull this off without two players: Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi.

The English forward and Nigerian midfielder are both out due to illness. Mesut Ozil faces the same problem, racing against time to be fit for Saturday’s game. There could be starts for Rob Holding, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, whilst David Ospina will likely take his place in between the sticks for this tie.

Lincoln have been given the go-ahead to include Riccardo Calder and goalkeeper Ross Etheridge – on loan from Aston Villa and Doncaster respectively – in their FA Cup squad. Cup-tied forward Lee Angol misses out, having already featured for Peterborough in the FA Cup earlier this season.
