Lacazette vs. Dzeko arguably the highlight of Lyon-Roma tie

Lyon

Bruno Génésio's men come into this game having won four and drawn one of their last five games across all competitions. Lyon scored a whopping 11 goals against Dutch side AZ en route to this juncture, including a 7-1 drubbing of their opponents at this same ground as they cruised through 11-2 on aggregate. Les Gones have also netted a whopping 25 goals in their last five matches in all competitions, but struggled somewhat as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Bordeaux over the weekend.

Currently in fourth spot, Lyon, who finished in second last season, are 15 points behind Nice, meaning that a Champions League berth is likely out of reach. That is, unless if they manage to win the Europa League, but obviously that will be much easier said than done.

All eyes, of course, will be on Alexandre Lacazette. Since returning from injury, Lyon's fortunes have improved, and he has racked up an impressive 22 goals in Ligue 1 and 27 in 31 appearances across all competitions. Lacazette has benefited from support from players like Nabil Fekir, Mathieu Valbuena, and ex-Manchester United man Memphis Depay.

Roma

Meanwhile, whilst Lyon come into this game brimming with confidence, Roma's has taken a huge hit. The Giallorossi have lost three out of their last four games across all competitions. The first was a 1-0 defeat to Villarreal that saw Antonio Rudiger being sent off, which means that the German international will not be available for this game. Luciano Spalletti's men rebounded by beating Inter 3-1, but then stumbled yet again as they lost 2-0 to Lazio in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie. And over the weekend, they suffered another setback as they were defeated 2-1 by Napoli.

Prior to that result, Roma were on a 15 game winning streak at the Stadio Olimpico, setting a new club record in the process. The Lupi also had not lost to the Partenopei since Edinson Cavani netted a brace in February 2011. Cavani also was the last player to score for Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico, in May 2013. Furthermore, Napoli had won just one out of their last 14 overall meetings versus the Giallorossi, so Roma were feeling pretty confident ahead of Saturday's huge clash between second and third.

Whilst it hasn't changed the league standings, Roma will definitely want to get back to winning ways. Edin Dzeko, like Lacazette, has been the go-to-man for his side. The Bosnian attacker has plundered 19 goals in Serie A, which puts him third in the race for the Capocannoniere and 29 in 38 appearances across all competitions.

It will be a very interesting battle between these two sides. Will Lacazette or Dzeko add more to their growing tally as each top marksman leads the line for his respective side?
