Police were even called, as the world’s most expensive player endured the wrath of enraged supporters.

Paul Pogba was involved in a near-violent altercation with fans. The world’s most expensive player had a bust-up with supporters at a restaurant, with police being called to ease the tension.

The French superstar, fresh off the League Cup final success, arrived at popular Manchester restaurant, Akbar. The midfielder was there on a Monday near midnight when the clash occurred.

Pogba was enjoying a nice, quiet dinner with friends, but – due to his undeniable popularity – drew a crowd. Some fans asked for an autograph, and were enraged when the 23-year-old declined to sign a token.

Onlookers claim that those fans accused Pogba of being disrespectful to supporters who help earn him his £290,000-a-week wage. They got very confrontational with the former Juventus ace, with a plate even being hurled in his direction.

Two men in particular squared up to the Red Devils star, with onlookers fearing a fist-fight would break out. Friends and staff had to hold back the upset fans, with one employee at the curry house deciding on calling the cops.

Law enforcement never arrived, however, as the trouble-makers left before police were dispatched. Pogba“dealt with it [the altercation] very well”, according to an onlooker.
