Juventus aiming to improve after last season's Champions League disaster

Last season, Juventus ended up having to face Bayern Munich at this juncture. A 2-2 draw in Turin was not enough, as the Bavarians managed to beat them 4-2 in a thrilling clash that went to extra-time. This time around, although die Roten did finish second, meaning that the Bianconeri could have been paired with them yet again, Massimiliano Allegri's side have avoided the German champions for now.

Porto are the opponent that stand between La Vecchia Signora and a spot in the final eight. On paper, the Portuguese outfit may seem an easier foe than teams like Real Madrid or Bayern, but one can certainly bet that this will be a match the reigning Serie A champs will be taking quite seriously. However, the fact that Leonardo Bonucci will miss out due to disciplinary issues is a major gamble on Allegri's part. Still, his 4-2-3-1 formation has been a resounding success since he employed it for the first time against Lazio, and he will be expected to use it again in Porto, with Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado, and Miralem Pjanic all featuring at the same time.

Not only does this new offensive formation help them fire in the goals, but Juve have also tightened things up even more at the back.  La Vecchia Signora are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Porto and will be fancying their chances at heading back to Turin with a vital away win in hand.

Still, the Portuguese side will have other ideas. They are on a six match winning streak and have not lost at home since last April. It will also be an interesting duel of sorts between two veteran shot-stoppers: Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon. Both stars will be hoping to inspire his respective side in what could be an interesting tactical battle from kick-off to the time the final whistle is blown.
