And just like that, Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw has become an instant hit and darling among many football fans

Sutton United have sacked their second-choice goalkeeper Wayne Shaw for eating a pie on the bench during their FA Cup clash with Arsenal on Monday. The 45-year-old goalkeeper grabbed the attention of the football fans all over the world when he appeared live on TV eating the pie as the game against the gunners went on.

With all the three substititutions already made, there was no way the celebriuty goalkeeper would have featured in the match, hence his decision to have a snack as he watched on. But there are also some allegations that he was involved in gambling especially after SunBets, a betting company, had offered 8-1 odds for Shaw to eat a pie live on camera.

According to FA's rules, it is illegal for players to gamble or offer insider information that would manipulate the results of a game or favor a particular bet. The goalkeeper recently defended himself against the allegations of gambling, but it seems the fifth-division club are not willing to hear any of it has he undergoes investigations by the FA.

Here's how the football world reacted to the news of his sacking
