The Argentine legend ran into trouble ahead of Napoli's Champions League clash with Los Blancos.

Argentine legend Diego Maradona is currently in Madrid, presumably for the game between former club Napoli and Real Madrid in the Champions League. However, his appearance at the Champions League clash is under doubt after running into trouble with the police.

The World Cup winner was questioned by law enforcement in the Spanish capital over an alleged assault involving the 56-year-old. The manager of the Eurostars Mirasierra hotel – where Maradona was staying with girlfriend Rocio Oliva – called police after Diego had a heated argument with his partner.

This incident occurred on Wednesday morning, and it was bad for Maradona given his abusive past towards Oliva. Spanish police later released confirmation.

A police spokesperson said (as per ESPN): “We received a call at 8.30 a.m. from the manager of the hotel, and the emergency services were also informed after an argument broke out between Diego Maradona and his girlfriend.

"The emergency services arrived but were not needed.”

According to the spokesperson, there was no sign of assault on Oliva or Maradona. The case ended there, as neither wanted to press charges.

Diego is in Madrid ahead of Napoli’s clash with Los Blancos. He was invited by the Serie A giants’ president Aurelio De Laurentiis to give the players a dressing room speech before kick-off.
