Luisao, the captain of Portuguese outfit Benfica, is set to officially join the 500-club today when the Eagles play Dortmund in the last round of 16 of the Champions League. The Brazilian joined the Portuguese outfit in 2003 from Cruzeira, and has since made 499 appearances, scoring 45 goals in the process.
The 35-year-old defender has also won five league titles, two Portuguese cups, seven Portuguese League Cups and also emerged as the runners-up in the Europa League twice. Thanks to his vast experience at the European level, the Glorioso manager Rui Vitoria will be relying on him to inspire the boys to Champions League victory in the first leg against Thomas Tuchel's men later today at the Estadio da Luz.
