Two European giants will lock horns on Tuesday, with an exciting midfield battle expected to occur.

On Tuesday, two European giants will lock horns. PSG, who were unfortunate to miss out on top spot in their Champions League group, will host Barcelona in the first of their round of 16 encounter.

Much eyes will be on their attacking power, with Lionel Messi and Edinson Cavani – this season’s top two scorers – set to go head to head. However, the playmakers on both sides are worth mentioning. Here’s a look at their numbers.

The most Champions League assists this season

Neymar: 7

Ousmane Dembele: 5

Cristiano Ronaldo: 4

As you can see, a Barcelona player tops the assists chart, whilst there is not PSG player anywhere to be found. However, this might be an unfair comparison. Les Parisiens scored only 13 goals in the entire group stage, only three more than what Messi managed alone.

A look at the most number of passes attempted sees Marco Verratti come out on top, with a tally of 552. The closest Barcelona player is, surprisingly Andre Gomes (346), followed by Sergio Busquets (344).

The highest pass completion percentage from both teams go to Andre Gomes and Thiago Motta, both tied at 95%, with Busquets and Matuidi tied in second with 93%.
