Arsene Wenger believes he knows the problem with Mesut Ozil at Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made a bold statement about Mesut Ozil. The German playmaker has been struggling to find goals in the recent past, something that Wenger claims it has affected his confidence.

The French boss now claims that for Ozil to regain his confidence, he must at least get a goal. The ex-Real Madrid man has not found the back of the net since December 12 when he scored against Stoke City. That makes it  a run of eight league games since his last goal for the gunners.

He also seemed to be struggling in the 2-0 win over Hull City on Sunday. Speaking after the match, Wenger said:

"Maybe it's time for him to score a goal again. He needs to find confidence again. He misses chances that don't look unfeasible for him.

"I felt he was not completely confident, technically. That's a problem, because you think he can deliver something special.

"It's true that technically he did things that he is not used to doing. I don't know. It can happen. I can't think of a specific reason. I had a chat with him on Friday. He looked alright."

The Arsenal supremo also opened up about the upcoming Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. Despite failing to reach the quarter-finals since 2010, Wenger was oozing with confidence ahead of the Feb 15 trip to the Allianz Arena. He said:

"Yes, we've had bad experiences against them. But I feel that this is a good opportunity.

"We have won there before and we play the first game away from home, so it's important we protect the second game because I feel that to have a chance to qualify in the second leg, that will be very important. We go there not high, but to defend well as a team."
