The Uruguayan striker committed two fouls against Los Colchoneros. Both 'deserved' a red card, according to the game's officer, Jesús Gil..

The game may have ended 1-1, but all in all, it seems like Barcelona lost a bit more.

Luis Suárez was sent off during the final moments of the game against Atlético by, allegedly, throwing his elbow against Koke. The Uruguayan was unceremoniously granted a red card after committing just two fouls, while other players escaped a red card while smashing their opponents quite a bit.

Curiously enough, this was Luis Suárez first red card with Barcelona. He's been frequently involved in claims of foul play, but he always got away with it. However, this call seems a bit harsh, even if you take under consideration his reputation as a bully.

Referee Jesús Gil had a complicated game, which included red cards for Yannick Ferreira, Sergi Roberto and Suárez. Furthermore, he granted Atlético a controversial penalty moments after wrongfully disallowing Antoine Griezmann's equalizer.

Griezmann was clearly onside, but the linesman decided to lift the flag anyway.

After the game, Suárez didn't hold back and revealed that the referee was determined to send him off.

Fans seemed to agree with the striker, as they demanded Barcelona to appeal the ref's decision.

If the decision isn't overturned, Suárez won't be around to play the Copa del Rey final against the winner of the tie between Celta and Alavés.
