If Barcelona can pull this off, someone at Real Madrid's front office will not be pleased.
According to Sport, Los Blaugranas would be preparing to offer Isco a contract with them, which would begin with the 2018-2019 season. Barcelona's execs know that Los Blancos would never enter a business deal with them, so their plan is to wait for the player not to extend his current deal with the Spanish capital giants.
With contract negotiations on hold, Isco could become Barcelona's answer to Luis Figo's transfer back in 2000. As of now, Los Blaugranas can't afford to pay the player's €40 million buyout clause, which is why they'd have to wait for his contract to expire.
Furthermore, the possibility of signing the midfielder has always been floating around. A huge Barça and Messi fan (his dog is named after the Argentinean superstar), Isco refused to join the current La Liga winners before signing with Los Blancos, as Florentino Pérez offered him a ton of money to do so. Having being outcast by Zinedine Zidane while beiing bantered by Real Madrid supporters who believe he is overrated could force Isco to shock everyone. Unfortunately for Los Blaugranas, they'll have to wait until next summer to find out if they can earn a little payback over that Figo incident.
