MLS side Columbus Crew has confirmed their latest Ghanian signing.

Ghanian midfielder Mohammed Abu has joined MLS side Columbus Crew SC from Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, the club has confirmed. The 25-year-old was a key figure in Ghana's 2013 AFCON squad, but did not make the cut in this year's edition of the tournament. He has four senior appearances for the Black Stars, all on their way to qualification for the 2013 AFCON.

The widely-travelled player was signed by Man City in the summer of 2010, and loaned out to Stromsgodset, Eintracht Frankfurt, Rayo Vallecano, FC Lorient, AGF Aarhus before penning a permanent deal with Stromsgodset where he made 82 appearances and scored one league goal. The Black and Gold confirmed the signing on their official website and on Twitter.

Part of the statement on their site read:

''Columbus Crew SC today announced that the club has acquired midfielder Mohammed Abu as a Special Discovery Player

He was a member of the Black Stars squad that represented Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Cup.

Abu has joined his compatriots Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful at Columbus Crew.''
