Gabon are out of the African Cup of Nations, and the are now the new holders of an unwanted record.

Gabon, the hosts of the 2017 African Cup of Nations, have been bundled out of the competition. Despite having the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to their ranks, the Panthers could not find the back of the net against Cameroon as the two sides settled for a goalless draw.

Aubameyang, in particular, was wasteful in front of goal having missed some key chances especially in the first half. It should be remembered that the BVB forward also missed a crucial penalty five years ago to deny his country a semi-final appearance. His teammate Denis Bouanga was more lethal in front of goal but his efforts did not yield fruits. Burkina Faso's win over Guinea-Bissau is all that was needed to bundle Aubameyang's side out of the competition. As a result, they have become the first Cup of Nations hosts since 1994 to be knocked out of the competition in the group stages. And football fans took to Twitter to express their anger and disbelief towards that one chance that Auba would have converted into goal and save his country from an early exit. Here are some of the best tweets.
