A late goal once again by Karim Benzema saved the day for Zidane's men, who qualified for the Copa del Rey quarter finals in thrilling fashion.

What is it about this version of Real Madrid that loves to keep fans on the edge of their seats?

Fans watching TV or at Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan stadium were in for a treat this evening, as Los Blancos set a new record for the longest unbeaten run by a Spanish football team. Karim Benzema saved Zidane's streak with a 93rd-minute goal, which helped the Spanish capital giants reach 40 games without a loss.

The previous record was set by Barcelona last season, and to make things sweeter for Los Blancos, they ended that streak with a 2-1 win at Camp Nou last term.

Here's a quick recap of all the scores in this tweet posted by Spanish newspaper Marca.

Zidane's crew has won 31 of those 40 unbeaten games, and has only lost a couple of games since he took over last year.

But Real Madrid needs four more games to become the team with the longest unbeaten streak in Europe's top 4 leagues.

"Teams playing in the Top 4 European leagues with 40+ games without a loss"

A record such as this one demanded celebration -and trolling- by Real Madrid fans, legends and current players. Here are some of their best comments.
