The rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona players seems to be heading to a new high, following Cristiano Ronaldo's comments as he was unveiled as FIFA's first The Best Award recipient.
Los Blaugranas revealed that they wouldn't be attending the ceremony, given that they need to prepare for their crucial Copa del Rey tie against Athletic Club. Cristiano Ronaldo didn't overlook that fact, and remembered his opponents during his acceptance speech.
"I want to thank my team-mates and coaches. This award belongs to them. I'm sorry that some Barcelona players are not here, but it's understandable,"CR7 stated.
It is yet to be seen if CR7 was supportive of Barcelona's decision of not attending the gala in order to get themselves ready for a tough game, but his comments are already setting social media on fire. Here are some comments following his speech.
