It is exactly an year since Zinedine Zidane was appointed the manager of Real Madrid after replacing Rafa Benitez. By the time of his appointment, the French legend did not have the much-needed experience working with top-tier sides - he had only managed Real Madrid's second team, and worked as a special adviser to the senior team. But one year later, the 44-year-old has proven to be more than just a great player.

Managerial record
The former Real Madrid man has now guided the senior team to 53 games, registered 40 wins, 11 draws and only two defeats. Los Blancos have scored 150 goals in all competitions since his apointment, conceded only 49, and are unbeaten in 37 matches across all competitions.
Managerial honors
On his first season, Zizou has already won a trebble with the Spanish giants. He won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2016. His eyes are now set on the dometic league title, which has evaded the Madrid-based club since 2012 when they last won it. And as of now, the Merengues sit at the top of the league with 37 points (and with a game in hand), three more than second-placed Barcelona.

Personal records
Zizou will go down the books of history as the first Real Madrid manager to go unbeaten in 35 games in the club's 114-year history. He is also the first person to be crowned champion of the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup as a player and manager, and the first French manager to win the Champions League. In November, he became the first manager in the history of La Liga to collect more than 84 points after 33 games. At that time, he had 86 points from 33 games.
Zidane poses with the Champions League trophy he won with Madrid as a manager last season
Having won almost everything in Europe at the club level last season, many Madridistas will be hoping that the manager will finally end the club's dryspell domestically. This goal does not seem out of reach now that he has won more trophies (3) than the games he has lost as Real Madrid manager (2). The domestic journey starts later today when they face rivals Sevilla in the Copa del Rey, a competitions they were expelled from last season for fielding an ineligible player.
