How many teams can boast of having defeated Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the past two seasons? Even Jose Mourinho's former team and current European champions Inter Milan lost 1-0 in Catalonia, although they still made it through to the final of the Champions League on aggregate. Well, the fact is that Barcelona are actually very strong – especially at home – and Xabi Alonso knows it.

“Barca are a good team. They’ve got talented players upfront. We can’t focus our attention on just one player because the others will take advantage of such a game plan,” the Real Madrid midfielder said in an interview with the club’s sponsor Bwin.

“They’ve won many titles in recent years. But, we are going to give them a tough fight.

“The recipe for success is to play as a team and to be strong on both ends of the pitch. That’s how to win at the Camp Nou.

“I think that anything can happen. But that’s how we’ll have to play in order to clinch victory.”

Real Madrid are on top of Barcelona going into El Clasico. A win on Monday will not only mark an end to Los Blancos’ dreadful run of 4 consecutive defeats to the Blaugrana. It will also send them 4 points clear at the top of La Liga standings.
