Portugal coach Fernando Santos has been named the best national coach in the world by the International Federation of Football and Statistics. The Euro 2016 winner with Portugal scooped the award after collecting 199 points, more than double what his closest competitor Lars Lagerback of Iceland got (77). Germany's head coach Joachim Low came third with 62 points, just one point above Wales' Chris Coleman.

Coach Santos is one of the most widely-traveled Portuguese tacticians - he has managed the likes of Greece at the national team level, Porto, Benfica, AEK Athens, Sporting CP, Panathinaikos, Estoril and Estrela Amadora. The 62-year-old tactician also boasts of a wide range of trophies, especially at the club level. He has won the Primeira Liga, Taca de Portugal, Greek Football Cup, and not forgetting the glorious European Championship.
