It looks like the Welshman and Portuguese star have competition.

Real Madrid will embark on their FIFA Club World Cup campaign on Thursday, taking on Club America in the semi-final. Although the Mexican outfit are not an easy opponent, Los Blancos are favorites to progress and win the competition.

One player who won’t be in Japan to lift the trophy should Zidane’s boys win is Gareth Bale. The Welshman injured his ankle in a Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon, and has been sidelined ever since.

The Spanish Primera Division leaders will be without their speedy winger, but according to Bale himself, there is another player who can rival Cristiano Ronaldo in a footrace. The world’s second most expensive player made this revelation after sitting down for an interview with Goal, dishing secrets about Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old was asked who is the fastest at Santiago Bernabeu. The former Tottenham star responded: “The quickest player? Apart from me? [Raphael] Varane or Ronaldo.”

It comes as little surprise, given that the French center-back held his own against the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lionel Messi. Unfortunately, Varane can’t beat three players to score a screamer.
