Yet fans will still be worried.

How can Arsenal fans be worried when two key players have agreed to contract extensions with the Gunners? The reason is that they are not the two players Gooners are eager to see tied down with new deals.

According to RMC Sport, the north London outfit have extended the contracts of French duo Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin. Although they are not the biggest names at the Emirates, they are two key members of Wenger’s squad.

Oli, once an inconsistent striker, has now become a regular super-sub for Arsenal. His extension, though, is a clear reflection of his age and future. Currently 30, his contract – initially expiring in 2018 – was only extended by a year.

Coquelin, whose Arsenal future appeared dead a few seasons back, has now made the defending midfielder role his own. Mohamed El Neny and Granit Xhaka are fierce competition, but the Frenchman still holds down his starting eleven spot. Francis’ deal will now end in 2021.

There is still no news on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the players every Arsenal fans want to see extend their deals. However, Laurent Koscielny looks destined to all sign a new deal which will keep him in London until 2020.
