A historic clash awaits

Lazio

Currently under the tutelage of ex-striker Simone Inzaghi, Lazio come into this game currently sitting in fourth place. The Biancocelesti haven't lost a match since September 20th, when they were overpowered 2-0 by AC Milan. With four wins out of their last five, they are making a serious push for a Champions League berth and could potentially move into second should they beat Roma and Milan fail to pick up maximum points against minnows Crotone.

Lazio have currently gone nine matches sans defeat, but they have had a frustrating record against Roma as of late. As noted before, they have not won this fixture in several years, and they will have added incentive to end Roma's good home spell on Sunday afternoon.

Roma

Meanwhile, Roma sit in second. The Giallorossi will be looking to win this fixture in order to keep up some pressure on Juventus, who right now have moved to seven points clear after their win over Atalanta earlier today. Luciano Spalletti's men, however, will be missing quite a few players for this game. Both Mohamed Salah and Alessandro Florenzi are out, whilst Stephan El Shaarawy will have to be evaluated before the game to determine his fitness.

If reports are to be believed, this also could be the penultimate Derby della Capitale for skipper Francesco Totti. The 40-year-old was given a one-year contract extension at the start of this season, but rumors are rife that the evergreen attacker may not be offered another one once this term ends.
