The biggest weekend in Spanish football is here with us. There are several exciting fixtures to look forward to and top of the list is El Clasico. Two perennial footballing rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to flex their muscles at the Nou Camp on Saturday in what is expected to be nothing less than a thriller. Barcelona trail league leaders Real Madrid by six points and a defeat could spell doom for them as far as the title chase is concern.
If they allow Real Madrid to take a nine-point lead, it will take a miracle to stop the European champions from winning their remaining fixtures, considering the fact that they are riding on a 31-match unbeaten run. Another big clash is the Atletico vs Espanyol match. Diego Simeone’s men are sitting at the fourth place in the league, hoping that the top three sides (Real Madrid 33pts, Barcelona 27 pts, Sevilla 27pts respectively) will drop points over the weekend. Espanyol have been struggling lately in the league and this gives the Vincente Calderon outfit some glimmer of hope that they can get some three points at home.
