Match stats

  • Tottenham have not won at Stamford Bridge since earning a 2-1 victory in February 1990
  • Since then, they have lost 18 and drawn 11 times
  • Chelsea have beaten Tottenham 25 times - that's more than any other team in the Premier League
  • Eden Hazard has scored in four out of his last five meetings with Tottenham (including during a 2-2 draw last season)
  • Chelesa have not conceded a goal in six games (over 540 minutes of action and counting)
  • Spurs are the only unbeaten team left in the English top flight
  • Harry Kane has been directly involved in four goals (three goals, one assist) in his last three Premier League games against Chelsea

Can Chelsea make it seven wins in seven against an unbeaten Tottenham?

Chelsea

The last time Chelsea lost - or conceded a goal, for that matter - was when they were on the wrong end of a 3-0 score-line against Arsenal. That was back on September 24th. For Blues fans, it surely feels like a very distant memory. Antonio Conte's side rebounded in style by first beating Hull 2-0, thrashing reigning champs Leicester City 3-0, humiliating Manchester United 4-0, overpowering Southampton 2-0, crushing Everton 5-0, and grinding out a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

In fact, the only time they have conceded across all competitions was during a 2-1 loss to West Ham in the League Cup. And that certainly did not hurt their momentum in the Premier League. As a result of this six-match winning streak, Chelsea ended the last matchday sitting on top of the table, but with Liverpool and Manchester City hot on their tails, will naturally have to keep this up in order to maintain their league leader status. The hosts will only be missing Kurt Zouma and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, both of whom are in doubt due to injuries.

Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino's men come into this game after a disappointing result in mid-week. Tottenham needed to avoid a loss to Monaco to keep their qualification ambitions intact. However, shortly after equalizing, a rather embarrassing comedy of errors allowed Les Rouges et Blancs to regain the lead for the rest of the match. As such, Tottenham are now out of the Champions League and will have to try their luck in the Europa League.

Although Spurs are still unbeaten in the Premier League, they have earned six wins and six draws out of their past 12 games. Six draws means a whopping 12 valuable points lost. In fact, prior to their hard-fought 3-2 win over West Ham, they had drawn their past four fixtures after beating Manchester City 2-0 on October 2nd. To complicate matters, Pochettino will have to make do without several key players due to injury and suspension. Erik Lamela, Ben Davies, and Toby Alderweireld are all dealing with varied injury problems, whilst Danny Rose will be serving a ban and not eligible to feature.
