Wenger is worried that his star attacker will burnout by the New Year, and is taking measures to avoid that.

One of the biggest worries on the minds of Arsenal fans this past week was the fitness of Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean ace was reportedly nursing an injury during the international break, yet still featured for La Roja; then the Gunners in the Manchester United draw.

His latter appearance mustered no impact, as he was ineffective in the 1-1 tie at Old Trafford. Nonetheless, he will likely (again) be a central figure in the starting lineup when the north London outfit host PSG in the Champions League.

Wenger has spoken about Sanchez’s fitness, washing away any fears over his involvement. According to Le Prof, the Chilean has “recovered completely” from Saturday’s game. Arsene said (as per Goal):

"Everybody recovered from Saturday. We left Walcott and Ramsey out of training for recovery but they should be alright. Lucas Perez is back in training but not with the squad.

"[Sanchez] has recovered completely. I follow all the instructions of the medical staff and the player.”

Reports have emerged that the Arsenal boss is worried about the fitness of his star attacker in the long run. According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old will be handed a winter break in order to be fresh for January, February, and March.

When that break will start wasn’t mentioned, but odds are it will see him miss out the trip to Basel – should Arsenal secure a win this Wednesday – and their League Cup clash with Southampton.
