Can Chelsea make it a sixth win on the trot...and consecutive clean sheet this Sunday?

Middlesbrough

Aitor Kranka's side come into this match presently sitting in 15th spot on 11 points. Middlesbrough earned promotion back to the Premier League after an eight-year absence by finishing second in the Championship, but so far have found life back in the top flight a lot more difficult than they perhaps anticipated. The hosts, to date, have won just one out of a possible five matches at home, and all in all, have earned four points out of a potential 18. With the exception of Swansea and Sunderland, who have earned just two and one point respectively, no other side so far has fared so poorly on their home turf.

To complicate matters, the hosts have a long and frustrating track record against Chelsea. Middlesbrough haven't beaten their opponents in the Premier League in a decade. They will be expected to play pretty much everyone behind the ball to keep things at 0-0 for as long as possible, but will likely find it tough against a Blues side rapidly growing in confidence.

Chelsea

As for the Blues, their nickname may be blue, but spirits certainly are not down in the dumps. Antonio Conte's project appears to be finally taking root and they could re-claim top spot with a win at Riverside Stadium later today. Since losing to Arsenal nearly two months ago, Chelsea have been unstoppable. And impressively, their wins are not all against basement boys or relegation candidates. During a five match winning run, they have cruised to a 4-0 win over Manchester United and crushed a previously high-flying Everton 5-0. Although their League Cup run was ended with a 2-1 loss to fellow London side West Ham, that will not matter too much to Blues fans.

When he arrived at Juventus a few seasons ago, Conte inherited a side who were floundering, and by the time he left three seasons later, the Bianconeri had re-established themselves as the dominant side in Italy. Chelsea supporters, naturally, will be hoping to see him repeat this same feat in England. And so far, things appear to be on their way.

Players like Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, largely marginalized whilst Jose Mourinho was in charge during that horrible period last season, are now back to playing their best football. Both were on target during the rout of Everton, and both will be featuring in the starting XI during this game. In fact, with the exception of young defender Kurt Zouma, Conte should have largely a full-service squad available for what could be likely a straightforward win for the visitors.
