Reports suggest that the Portuguese superstar will earn at least €21M a year, in a deal that will make him the brand's spokesman for many years.

Following the footsteps of Michael Jordan and Lebron James, Cristiano Ronaldo has penned a multi-million deal with American sportswear giant Nike.

The deal will make Cristiano Ronaldo the highest-paid athlete in the world, considering his new deal with Los Blancos and his new contract with the sportswear titan. Prior to this agreement, CR7 earned €7M for being Nike's spokesman, but this deal will guarantee the 3-time Ballon D'Or winner at least €21M per year.

Ronaldo's relationship with the brand goes back to 2003, when he played for Sporting Lisbon and prior to his move to Manchester United. If the deal is as successful as both parties want, Ronaldo could end up earning a whopping €40M a year.

The brand issued this interview with Cristiano Ronaldo after the deal was announced.
