Robin Van Persie's eye injury has sent chills all over football fans on social media.

Fenerbahce forward Robin Van Persie suffered a horrific eye injury during his side’s 3-1 win over Akhiskar on Sunday. So terrible was the injury that there were fears that the lethal Dutchman may not be able to see again with his left eye.

The former Arsenal and Man Utd forward had opened the scoring for the Yellow Canaries before being carried off the pitch in the first half after picking up the injury. Live footage of the incident showed blood oozing from a bandage placed on his left eye. But after several medical examinations, the Turkish giants have now issued a statement informing the club’s fans that there is nothing to worry about the incident. The BBC quotes the club’s doctor Burak Kunduraciogl as saying:

"He (RVP) received a blow to the eye and suffered a torn eyelid and bleeding.

"After the investigations we learned that nothing important happened. His condition is good."
