Arsenal will take on Tottenham when the two sides meet in a highly-anticipated Sunday clash. As most north London derbies turn out, a feisty affair is expected between both sides.
History may be on the Gunners side, but Arsene Wenger has given the away side more reason for wanting to beat their neighbors. The French manager stated, ahead of the tie, that his club can always be bigger than the White Hart Lane side.
Le Prof was speaking in regards to Tottenham’s stadium, which is in for a renovation. By 2018, Spurs will move into a stadium with a 61,000 capacity, making it the largest arena in the English capital.
Nonetheless, Wenger isn’t all to fazed by this. He said (as per the Telegraph): “I don’t think about Tottenham like that. I think about Arsenal and making us as big as possible, making us stronger. We have a strong fan base, maybe the strongest in London, and as long as we do our job Arsenal will always be the stronger.”
Tottenham have never finished above Arsenal since Wenger’s arrival, and have only two League Cups under the name in the exact time it took Arsene to win three Premier League titles and six FA Cups.
Nonetheless, Mauricio Pochettino has established a young and exciting squad which look ready to not only usurp Arsenal as the best in north London, but challenge for the title.
