Team news – Barca going through their own injury crisis

The 4-0 win over Manchester City was a bitter-sweet moment for Barcelona, as they claimed three points in style but also lost key players to injury at a time when they could do without absentees.

The Blaugrana lost two key defenders in the form of Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba, with the center-back spraining his ankle after a tackle from David Silva whilst the latter hurt his left hamstring early in the first half.

Both of the Spaniards will be out until November, meaning they will join Sergi Roberto and goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen on the sidelines. Luckily for Luis Enrique, Lionel Messi is back in top form after recovering from a groin injury.

The Argentine made his much-awaited return in the 4-0 win over Deportivo, scoring once, before clinching a memorable hat-trick in the win over Pep Guardioala’s boys in Europe.

Luis Suarez is expected to start after officially being handed the Golden Boot, and will (most probably) be joined by Neymar, who also made the score sheet vs. the Citizens, completing their MSN lineup.

In the Valencia camp, there isn’t much to worry about, as only Guilherme Siqueira is doubtful. Eliaquim Mangala and Ezequiel Garay are both fit an likely to start, as they must keep Barca’s feared attacking trio quiet.

Nani is expected to start on the wing, whilst Rodrigo is also likely to make the starting eleven, as Valencia have a golden opportunity to take advantage of the Blaugrana’s weakened backline.
