Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has finally opened up about the ‘elephant in the room.’ After his much publicized move to Old Trafford over the summer after completing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Zlatan was widely seen as the right man to steer the Red Devils back to their glory days despite his age.
And true to the word, the Swede restored the club’s confidence and fear-factor, albeit temporarily, after scoring four goals in four games. But lately, the 35-year-old has been struggling to find the back of the net and is currently on a four-match goalless streak in the league.
Zlatan had numerous chances to put the Red Devils ahead on Monday when they faced their bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. But his wastefulness in front of goal was the subject of date on Twitter, as many of the club’s fans accused him of being a let down to their attack. Check out some of the reactions on Twitter:
Just think. If Zlatan could finish better we'd have 4 more points from the last two games and be ahead of Liverpool. #MUFC

However, speaking ahead of the Europa League tie against Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Mourinho defended the ex-PSG star. He said this about him:
”I am really happy. He is giving us exactly what we need from him, what we expect from him.
“He is fit and always ready to play. The young guys look up to him and that’s great because he can only influence them positively.”
