Legendary Mexican club América apparently copied Sevilla's Centennial anthem on Saturday, sparking controversy in Spain and Mexico.

Talk about a Centennial celebration going the wrong way...

Mexican football team Club América celebrated its Centennial last week, and someone thought it would be a good idea to produce a new anthem for the club. The only problem is that, whoever wrote the song, practically copied the popular Centennial anthem of another club, none other than Sevilla's, the current UEFA Europa League holders.

Football fans watching Saturday's game between América and Liga MX leader Xolos noted a striking resemblance between both anthems, immediately sparking rumors of plagiarism from the Mexican team.

Here's a comparison between both anthems. We know both of them are sung in Spanish, but your can still listen to the resemblance.

Once the Spanish team found out about this, their Media Director admitted the club will look closely into this situation and will take legal action if any laws have been broken.

On the other hand, the only statement from one of Club América's execs came on Sunday.

"We don't know if it's similar to Sevilla's anthem. Honestly, there has to be a number of anthems that sound like others around the world. For the moment, that's our Centennial anthem and there's nothing more to say about it," José Romano stated.
