Will Napoli make three wins in three...and make history in the progress?

Napoli

Last weekend, Napoli saw their excellent home record disappear as they were shocked 3-1 by Roma. Prior to the loss, they were on a 10-match unbeaten streak at the Stadio San Paolo. However, Maurizio Sarri's side have been quite strong in the Champions League. Two wins out of two have the Partenopei well on course to secure their spot in the round of 16 - and they can do it in historical fashion should they defeat Beskitas later today.

Partenopei supporters will hope that the absence of key striker Arkadiusz Milik due to an ACL injury as well as the loss to the Giallorossi will not be a major distraction for the team. Still, with players like Jose Callejon, Marek Hamsik, and Dries Mertens in their ranks, Napoli have more than enough firepower up front to be able to successfully navigate through a less than difficult group stage campaign.  Back in 2013, they secured 12 points - but it was not enough to progress from their group, which also included Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Marseille.

Besiktas

Although Besiktas are involved in a three-way tie at the top of the Super Lig table, they have not fared as well in European competition. So far, the visitors have picked up just two points from their first two games. The draw with Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev will be especially disappointing, as they are widely regarded as the weakest team in this quartet. And given that Napoli brushed aside Benfica - who will be definitely competing with Besiktas for second place - the Turkish powerhouse will have to dramatically improve if they want to get anything out of this match.

Besiktas will be heavily relying on Cenk Tosun, who has netted five times in the league - but has largely struggled to score away from home. One player who will be hoping to make an impact is Gokhan Inler, who previously plied his trade for Napoli.
