PSG looking to maintain their formidable home record against Swiss visitors

PSG

PSG come into this game having lost just one out of their last 41 European home fixtures. And the team to beat them? Not surprisingly, it was Barcelona. The Blaugrana defeated them 3-1 during the first leg of the 2014/2015 quarter-finals en route to winning the title in Berlin in June. Before the loss to the Spanish powerhouse, Les Parisiens last were beaten by Israeli outfit Hapoel Tel-Aviv during the 2006/2007 Europa League group stages.

Over that course of time, they have won 25 and drawn 15, and come into this game having lost just one out of their past six games across all competitions. However, there are still some major doubts about Unai Emery's side, who have not exactly been cruising along in Ligue 1 like they did last season. They presently sit four points behind Nice, who occupies top spot, and with Arsenal taking on minnows Ludogorets, PSG will want to get maximum points out of this fixture to avoid potentially slipping a couple points behind the London giants.

In terms of personnel, only Javier Pastore and likely Thiago Motta will miss out on this game. Layvin Kurzawa, Angel di Maria, Maxwell and Serge Aurier - who all were left out of the team during their last game against Nancy - have returned to training and are expected to return to the starting XI for Wednesday's clash.

Basel

The visitors could potential miss Manuel Akanji, Andraz Sporar and Adama Traore for this game. Neither player featured for Basel in domestic action over the weekend and likely may not recover in time for the trip to Paris. Basel, who are currently under the tutelage of Urs Fischer, were the first Swiss side to ever qualify for the group stages of a Champions League. The RotBlau ended up having to settle for a draw with Ludogorets, but were beaten by Arsenal in their trip to London on matchday two.
