Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged the club’s supporters to show respectful behavior ahead of their Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool on Monday. By virtue of being the biggest game in the history of football, tension is already building on both sides.
This fixture has been marred by tension especially after the Munich and Hillsborough incidents, and Mourinho believes that both sides need to be calm and show good sportsmanship throughout the match. The two clubs have also released a joint statement urging their fans to show respect for one another. Part of the statement also added that those fans who would be involved in discriminatory acts would be ejected from the stadium with a possible option of facing criminal charges. Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated derby, Mou told reporters:
''In football we have some football tragedies, if you can say that, which is a big match that you lost, the mistake that some player did, this kind of thing - you can make fun of it in a positive way.
“But the human tragedy is something much more serious. It’s the last thing somebody should use in a football pitch because they were really big tragedies, not to forget but to respect. I will be really sad in such a big football match if that was a negative point.”
