Marcus Rashford may not have been playing the English Premier League long, but the English striker has faced a number of quality defenders during his meteoric rise.
Ahead of their trip to Liverpool, where the Englishman will face more talented center-backs, the teenager chose on fellow English Premier League man as the toughest defender he has crossed paths with.
That man was none other than Arsenal ace Laurent Koscielny, who Rashford described as “difficult”. He said (as per the Mirror):
“Laurent Koscielny at Arsenal.
"He was a difficult defender to play against.”
Rashford’s choice is a rather odd one, not down to the Gunners defender’s skills. The Frenchman is an undeniable force to be reckoned with, but he and team-mate Gabriel Paulista failed to contain Marcus when he scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Arsenal.
The Red Devils starlet also opened up about what surprised him the most about the English top-flight, insisting it not to be the pace of the game, rather its physicality.
"You don’t go through a game of football without having a knock. I don’t think I have done that for years! It does toughen you up.
"When you get the first knock it kind of wakes you up, you know they are men and it is not like Under-18s when you can take loads of knocks and know you will be fine, that you won’t feel anything after the game.
"You definitely get harder knocks but it helps. You just get up and get on with the game, and then you can give it to them back.”
