Man United’s Fergie To Coach Barcelona? In Your Dreams!

Angela Asante, November 18 2010,
Manchester United’s Ferguson is arguably a complete coach, but there is one thing he’s never achieved – and this, against his wish: coaching Barcelona.
Ferguson would have loved to coach Barcelona but he is now set to remain for many more years at Manchester United.
Ferguson would have loved to coach Barcelona but he is now set to remain for many more years at Manchester United.
Fergie talked to The Sun about this secret dream and explained that the reason behind it was the similarities between Man United and Barcelona. In a declaration, the 68-year-old Scot stated:

“I’d have loved to have gone to Barcelona at one time in my life. That would have been a dream. Their ideology and philosophy, the whole place is fantastic.

“But, I’m at the same kind of club in terms of vision.”

Well, it seems as if Ferguson’s dream to manage Barcelona is now dead. It’s a dream that never managed to materialize for the Manchester United boss and the past has eventually buried it.

The Old Scot has vowed to remain at Old Trafford and it may take much more years before the public sees another man in charge of the Red Devils. As he told BBC in Qatar recently, only health worries might stop him from doing what he loves best.

“Retirement is for young people. I’m too old to retire,” the Manchester United coach ironically stated.

“I’d have nothing to do. As long as my health is in good condition, I’ll carry on. My family will make this decision.”

So part of Alex Ferguson’s past managerial career could have belonged to Manchester United, but that never happened. The 68-year-old man, who will be turning 69 in a few weeks, has dedicated his future to leading the Red Devils to yet more success. Last season didn’t offer much in terms of silverware whereas the chase is on this season for better things.

In the English Premier League, Man United are struggling to take advantage of Chelsea’s mistakes. After drawing twice on the trot lately, Alex Ferguson will be hoping for a victory at last this weekend. They’ll meet Wigan Athletic who recorded a vital 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion the last time out as the battle for survival in the English Premier League has already begun.
