As if the absence of Lionel Messi is not enough, Argentina could lose yet another dependable striker due to injury.

Argentina star Sergio Aguero could miss the World Cup qualifier clash against Paraguay if the latest reports from the team’s training ground are anything to go by. The lethal forward has picked up a calf injury, according to Spanish publication Marca.

He is said to have sustained the injury during a training session with his national teammates, something that could also pose a huge concern to Man City boss Pep Guardiola. The Spanish outlet also adds that Aguero was replaced by Nicolas Gaitan in the Sunday training session after picking up the injury. His condition is however still unclear, but the Argentine football association is expected to release an official statement most probably on Monday.

At the club level, the Citizens will be hoping that the argentine will regain his fitness right on time before their Premier league clash against Everton on October 15 and a crucial trip to Spain to face Barcelona in the Champions League four days later. However, recent statistics have shown that the Sky Blues are doing just fine without the former Atletico Madrid man, winning four times without him so far in the campaign.
