Rigobert Song’s health is said to be improving, according to the latest reports from Cameroon.

Former Cameroon international Rigobert Song went into a coma on Sunday and was sent to hospital in Yaounde, Cameroon. Doctors later confirmed that the legendary footballer had suffered a cerebral aneurysm.

The uncle of former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Alex Song is now said to be out of the coma and is breathing by himself. He has been flown to France for further treatment.

The BBC quotes Dr Louis Joss Bitang A Mafok, the director of emergency at the Yaounde Central Hospital as saying:

"He has come out of his coma and the oxygen has been disconnected.

"His high blood pressure has returned to normal and the cerebral haemorrhage has been controlled.

"A medical aircraft will be in Cameroon in (Tuesday) he morning, we will have a working session with the French team and then he will be flown to France.''

The ex-Liverpool, West Ham, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor star is also the current manager of the Chad national football team. He is one of the most respected African footballers of all time, having played in four World Cup for the Indomitable Lions and a total of 137 times for his country.
