The transfer window has finally closed and now, more players are revealing the clubs that were keen on landing their signatures.

Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the latest player to reveal his suitors. According to the Borussia Dortmund hitman, Premier League giants Manchester City were leading the race to sign him over the summer.

It is now emerging that City boss Pep Guardiola has been a long-term admirer of the lethal goal-poacher and was keen on adding him to his to-buy list ahead of his new job at the Etihad. But the ex-Milan forward, who has already found the back of the net seven times in as many matches for BVB this season, is said to have turned down the deal. The German giants would get approximately 58 million pounds had the deal gone through.

He told Onze Sport

''It’s true, there was contact.  My father held talks with the club, but in the end there was nothing concrete.

''I think there was interest [from Real Madrid], but it was more distant so I didn’t get too carried away.’’

And for the umpteenth time, he also added that his ultimate goal was to play for Spanish giants Real Madrid. He said:

''I was asked in interview: “What is the club of your dreams?” I replied: “Real is the club of my heart and I made a promise to my grandfather to play there one day, I hope it will happen.”

''So it's just a target, I still have time. If they want me, they will come.’'
