The Valencia goalie shows that he is the best when it comes to stopping spot kicks.

Whilst many consider Lionel Messi to be the hit or miss guy with penalties, capable of wasting a spot kick at the most crucial of times, Antoine Griezmann is slowly catching up to the Argentine.

The stats show that the Frenchman – the man who infamously missed from the spot in last season’s Champions League final – is not reliable with penalties, missing three out of four in La Liga and two out of three in Europe.

His most recent miss came in Sunday’s all-important trip to Valencia. Being awarded a penalty late on in the first half, Griezmann saw his attempt thwarted by a fine Diego Alves save. Watch it in the video below.

In all honesty, the Valencia goalie is proving difficult to beat with a spot kick, so much that he saved another penalty in the second half of that very game – against Gabi this time.

The Brazilian custodian has now saved 19 of the 41 penalties he has faced in La Liga. Check out the best reactions.

Then Alves saved another penalty in that very same game
