Both Dinamo Zagreb and Juventus seeking first UCL win

Dinamo Zagreb

Hosts Dinamo Zagreb suffered a 3-0 humiliating defeat in their Champions League opener to Lyon that sees them bottom of their quartet. The Croatian champions, who have won the past eleven league titles dating back to 2006, hit a rough patch in domestic action as well with a 5-2 loss to Rijeka, which led to the resignation of Zlatko Kranjčar, with Željko Sopić taking over in his stead. Since the new coach's arrival, things have improved somewhat for the Plavi (the Blues), who will be coming into this game having won their past two games whilst scoring six and conceding none. However, they will have to make do without several players, including Petar Stojanovič, Marko Lešković, Alexandru Matel, and likely skipper Domagoj Antolić due to injuries.

Juventus

Although they're back on top of the league table, Juventus still have some major concerns. For starters, both Kwadwo Asamoah and Daniele Rugani sustained injuries during their scrappy 1-0 win over Palermo, meaning that they join Claudio Marchisio and Mehdi Benatia on the sidelines. The Bianconeri were quite disappointing during the tie with the Rosanero, and their lack of cohesion in the final third was on display both during that game and more important, during the scoreless draw with Sevilla.

Fortunately for La Vecchia Signora, they still have five more group stage games to go. Still, having received a less than favorable draw (none other than Bayern Munich) in the round of 16 last term after finishing second, Juventus will want to avoid a repeat of that by topping their quartet. As noted before, they have never beaten Dinamo Zagreb as they drew their first meeting 2-2 before losing 3-0 in Zagreb. However, that was nearly 50 years ago, and they will be extra motivated to head back to Turin with a much needed win to get their Champions League campaign back on track.
